Growing In Unity Day 5

Hello Friends,

I can't believe it's friday all ready!!! Where did the time go? I have a few projects up my sleeve today..The first is a mixed media project that has been sitting on my desk for a while begging me to complete it! LOL I took Christy Tomlinson's She Art Workshop this past summer...It was awesome to say the least. This girl has been sitting on my desk since then waiting for the finishing touches..

I used paper and lots of layers of paint to create the wonderful background..I also used my Cricut! I used a background from Cindy Loo Cartridge and cut it to fit the canvas using my Gypsy. I then used it as a stencil! I sprayed Burnt Red Glimmer Mist over top of it and let it dry.
Now onto the final touches..First the heart and wings..They are from the Tim Holtz Grungeboard plain elements. I painted then then inked part of a stamp onto the center of the heart. I adhered the heart and wings to the canvas with Ranger's Glossy Accents. Then the rubon fun begins!! After applying all the rubons I could stand I decided to stamp my sayings..I used Unity's Something Within stamp set..LOVE the sayings on these stamps..Here's a trick to getting crisp stamp images in the middle of the canvas..take 2 blocks and stack them under your canvas. Line them up where you want to stamp and you now have a sturdy surface to stamp against!!

Now onto my last layout for you using the same stamp set.. First I must tell you why I chose the saying I did for this page..2 Corinthians 5:7 For we walk bt FAITH not by sight.
My daughter, Faith was named after Hebrews 11:1 Now Faith is the substance hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. I was told in my early 20's after having an ovary and  half of the other due to large dermoid cysts  that the likely hood of me having children was slim!  Nearly 10 years later when I got married God answered my prayers..I was pregnant with a girl..20 weeks into the pregnancy I found out that I had another large cyst on my ovary and the Doctors told me I had to have surgery NOW!
Once again I turned to God and with his help decided to wait..the surgeon who did the fist surgery told me he was surprised that I was pregnant and that the cysts unless they grew too large would in no way harm my little girl! So after much trials and faith in God that everything would be ok, I gave birth to Faith Marie on my due date, Oct. 8, 2002. I know that it was my faith in God that not only blessed me with Faith but 5 years later, Emilee. The Doctors were wrong for sure!!
I chose the stamp for the underlying meaning it has for me and for my daughter..She always loves hearing the story of why I named her Faith and that she is named for a Verse in the Bible!

  2. Awesome story and cutest layout! My daughter had 4 American Girl dolls, and she is now a mother of a 1 year old daughter herself. She will be passing on her dolls to her own little girl! This is a reminder for me to do a scrapbook layout about daughter's American Girl dolls too!
